Why yes, there are three headlights shown.

Kinja'd!!!

The 'factory correct' rear seat pad is missing. Well, that was a bad idea to leave it out that one day. The front seats would be that same plaid, and well, if it was factory, this all would be blue, not tan.

But the crap wears out. Mine is missing _all_ the rear seat. and a good section of the carpet, but I have some purple shag rug I've been wondering what to do with.

I've seen driver's seats bolted to the seatbelt anchor just to keep from falling out.

This seems in better shape.

Still, I'd rather go a few listings down and pick up the pickup for $2500, even if both are saddled with automatics.

I managed to score one. Only one bit to cut out and it bolted right in. Wrong grille/year but at this point it's moot.

They prototyped the EJ series motor in one of these hatches, so yes. The Australians do it all the time to Brumby/Brats.

There's a 22 page PDF on the procedure. Note that with weight difference, even a '98 EJ20 is going to be plenty fast. Best upgrade the rear brakes to disc first. And a good roll cage to both save the cabin and maybe hold the car together in a few places.

The top hp turbo motor is just plain crazy fast where they have to get motorcycles for drag races to be even.

No, I've not thought about this.

My evaluation is: Nice car, Crack price. Rare as anything. You have to close your eyes and squint in order to find an affordable one.

This one (mine) seems to have had a accident early on that saved it from the normal salty roads, and it doesn't seem to smell of dead deer (there's a camo paintjob under the black primer)

The 87K motor is what sold me. Then I got it home and found that everything worked after a few tweaks. Just wanted a parts car.. I ended up with a potential Lemons, or a prototyping platform for the other car. Can we say Outback motor? Yes, yes we can.

I'm sorry, those actually are very rare here on the other side of the Stlantic. I've never even seen the hatch, only the wagon, sedan and the pickup.

And Subarus without much rust always make me very irrational. But I didn't notice the fact that this might have an auto, and that would be a massive turnoff for me.

yeah, the automatic turned me off as well, but these things were so simple that the manual trans and pedals would bolt on with the toolkit. And a 17mm, hammer, dremel and maybe a couple of fabricated brackets, a 5-speed can fit in there.

All in theory, of course. I like finding all the factory bits and putting it back to original quirk.

Yes, a Subaru without much rust does cause irrational behaviour. My driveway represents that phenomenon :)
